Badlands/White River KOA: Family, Friendly Camping

On a recent visit to South Dakota, my husband and I booked a stay in a camping cabin at the Badlands/White River KOA. It had been a few years since we had camped, so we thought this would be a great way to get back into camping. With wi-fi on site, this travel writer was excited to book.

LUXURY CAMPING CABINS

The camping cabin we stayed in had one full bed, one bunk bed (single set), cute porch with a swing, picnic table and a fire ring on site.

CLEAN SHOWER HOUSES

For campers that want to experience the outdoors, this is a great option. The shower houses and restrooms that the Badlands/White River KOA offer were clean and a short walk from our camping cabin. The hooks in our cabin worked great for hanging wet towels and the like.

Here’s how you can get the most out of your KOA camping cabin experience at the Badlands/White River KOA.

  • Bring your own bedding
  • Pack a cooler and all of your cooking necessities
  • Bring a tablecloth and table service
  • Bring bath and swim towels

It’s important to note that your KOA camping cabin does not offer services that hotels do. You are camping and it’s OK to slow down and embrace a slower pace of life. This particular KOA does offer breakfast and dinner at the Cook Shack. You can dine at the pavilion or take your meal back to your campsite.

BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK OFFERS FAMILY FUN

Badlands National Park is approximately four miles from this KOA and makes for a great place to call home while visiting one of America’s best national parks. The Badlands Loop offers a scenic drive to the world famous Wall Drug.

I would suggest planning your drive so you are in the town of Wall around meal time. You can get a great home cooked meal while dining at Wall Drug.

We loved our stay in the KOA camping cabin at the Badlands/White River KOA! I do like to escape technology once in a while, but I will say that I did appreciate the reliable wi-fi service that this campground did offer. In fact, we booked three more nights in a KOA camping cabin on part of this particular road trip. Stay tuned… I’ve got information on another great KOA camping cabin experience.
