Typical Fall Weather & Water Temps In Gulf Shores

Fall is typically not as humid as summer. The highs in September average near 87 degrees and cool to an average high of 71 degrees in November. I love being able to sport T-shirts and shorts during the day and wear a sweatshirt in the evenings. Fall is comfortable and enjoyable all hours of the day.

The average water temperatures in October range from 70-80 degrees. Depending on how you tolerate water temps, you may or may not want to go in the water. I have been known to dip my toes in the water anytime of year!

Biking The Hugh S Branyon Backcountry Trail

The Hugh S Branyon Backcountry Trail is open year-round for biking. We travel with our foldable Lectric e-bikes, making this an easy adventure. If you don’t travel with your bikes, E Bike of Orange Beach offers a nice selection of e-bikes.

Delicious Eats Everywhere In Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

The lines at the restaurants are shorter than in the busy summer months, making dining out a simpler experience in the fall. A favorite of many, including myself, who visit Alabama’s Beaches is Sunliner Diner.

Monarch Migration In Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

Pine Beach Trail in the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge offers an incredible place to view the monarch migration. We visited during the fall migration in 2025 and did not realize that was why we were seeing so many butterflies. The hike alone on this trail is worth experiencing.

A quick read on the signage along the trail, explained why we were seeing butterflies. Fall is a great time for hiking, as the humidity is not has high as the midst of summer.
