Lodging In Big Cities

  • Think about housing. As we said, some people like to hop into hostels and others would like to stick in an Airbnb or an apartment option. Apartments often have a much better.Breakdown of budget. When you think about it, if you’re sharing with other people, you can share the same apartment and split the cost. This way you still get to have lots of space for yourself, you can cook for yourself along the way which saves money, and you don’t have to bunk up with people in a hostel.
  • It’s all about timing. If you want to travel on a budget then you need to make sure that you’re traveling in the off seasons. Avoiding the tourist seasons will help you to save some cash. Traveling during shoulder seasons lets you save more money and see attractions when there are fewer people present. For example, if you’re heading to America, then you probably want to travel in the earlier parts of the year rather than during the summer break. If you’re going across Europe again, you want to try and travel between Easter and summer, or between Christmas and Easter. Find a local school calendar, and avoid vacation times when the cities you are visiting have school breaks.
  • Be smart with your flight booking. You do not have to be in business class every time you fly somewhere. So start looking at coach classes and look for unusual times of the day. For example, a 1:00 AM flight may be cheaper than a 10:00 AM morning flight.
  • Buy all of your attraction tickets ahead of time. If you are traveling with a group, purchase attraction tickets at group pricing. You should also find grocery stores in your destinations to see if they’re giving away tickets to events. Often local government websites will give you information on attractions and events that are coming so that you can save some cash along the way.
