Knot Your Average Vacation: A Unique Find In Shores Islands Ohio
The Ohio islands on Lake Erie have held a special place in my heart for years. It’s a slice of the Midwest that I fell in love with long ago. On a recent visit, I discovered something truly unique that made me love it even more: knot-tying.

Round up your friends and enjoy a knotty experience in Shores & Islands, Ohio. You can thank me later.

This experience took me back to my days as the Assistant Cubmaster in Cub Scouts when our sons were involved. I quickly remember why I always had an experienced person lead the knot-tying sessions, as I have never been qualified to teach knot-tying.

Owners Christina and Randy Crawford of Beagle Bay Knot Works made the experience a winning one!

Randy’s patience with me and my knot-tying was incredible, as he ensured I completed my keychain.
*Thank you to Shores & Islands, Ohio for hosting my husband and I on this visit*
Unraveling Fun At The Wave
Christina and Randy brought their incredible workshop directly to our group, who were staying at The Wave in Marblehead, Ohio. They set the tools we needed to experience knot-tying around the pool bar area, making it super convenient and fun.

From the moment they started, it was clear that Christina and Randy are incredibly knowledgeable. Their experience as sailors on Lake Erie has allowed them to share their knowledge through their passion for knot-tying.
If you’ve never attended a knot-tying class, you might wonder about the patience required. Well, these instructors have it figured out. I’m not the most patient person, and knot-tying demands a bit of focus. Randy’s additional, personalized help was genuinely appreciated.

We learned centuries-old mariner’s knot-tying techniques. I am proud of the keychain I made, as it tested my patience. Together, Randy and Christine make a dynmaic duo- and will help you and your friends create knot-tying masterpieces you will be proud of.
Why Beagle Bay Knots Is A Must-Do
The knot-tying experience was fun, and if you’re looking for something different to do while visiting Shores & Islands, Ohio. Beagle Bay Knots offers a fantastic experience.

Rain or shine, you will have a memorable experience to take home. I didn’t have time to visit their shop in Huron, Ohio, but their mobile workshop was top-notch; so I can only imagine how fantastic their brick-and-mortar location is.
The Wave: More Than A Place To Stay
Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores & Islands region has never disappointed me, and this trip was no exception. Our group stayed at The Wave in Marblehead.

Lodging is top-notch, along with the dining on-site. Every dish was phenomenal, and the energy within the restaurant was contagious. Book a stay at The Wave. It’s not just that their lodging is top-notch, but their restaurant is also phenomenal. The Wave Lakeside Dining Restaurant was bustling every time we were there.

Every meal and dish I had was delicious. I’d highly recommend staying at The Wave Hotel, but even if you’re lodging elsewhere in town, be sure to check out The Wave Lakeside Dining – you won’t be disappointed.
On your next visit to Shores & Islands, Ohio, plan a visit to Beagle Bay Knot Works. Arrange a “class” before you arrive with your group, and you will be glad you added the experience to your itinerary.
