The Seelye Mansion is located on Buckeye Street, one of the Main Streets running through Abilene, Kansas. If you arrive in town off of Kansas I-70, you will come upon a spectacular mansion on your left. This is the Seelye Mansion, one of the most beautiful historic mansions in the country.

This historic home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour this home to learn why it’s special. The Steinway piano, bowling alley in the basement, and numerous home furnishings purchased at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair can all be viewed in the home.

This is the only historic mansion I have visited where it is OK to play the piano and touch the home furnishings. Begin your tour at the small building behind the house, the Patent Medicine Museum and Visitors Center, and learn about Dr. Seelye and how his life shaped the home into what it is today. Tours last near 90 minutes, including the mansion, gardens, and museum.
