The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center: Grapevine, Texas

I recently attended a social media conference in Grapevine, Texas, that was held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. This resort was literally a hop, skip, and a jump from the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) airport. Cabs and shuttle buses were easy to connect with from DFW, which made the process even much more enjoyable.

The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is a beautiful resort. It is very family friendly, yet offers a great business atmosphere. I visited in March and the fabulous Paradise Springs, a 10 acre resort pool and lazy river complex, was not open during that time of year. It looked like a fantastic place to take the family during the heat of the summer. I must add, it is true- everything is bigger and better in Texas!

There are five restaurants here on site: Old Hickory Steakhouse, Riverwalk Cantina, Zeppole, Texan Station, and the Glass Cactus (must be 21 years old to enter) which is within walkable distance.

I dined at the Riverwalk Cantina, Texan Station, Zeppole, and The Glass Cactus. The food here is tasty, delicious, and by all means, not fast food. If fast food is your thing, you will need to go off site.

There is a simple coffee house, Java Coast, which serves pastries, coffee, and the like for breakfast. If there is a sit down breakfast area on site, I did not find one. If there was one addition I would like to see to this fabulous resort, a restaurant serving “real” breakfast food would be welcome.

There are several unique boutiques located at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. This gives you a taste of what Grapevine, Texas has to offer when it comes to shopping. Let me tell ya- Grapevine, Texas is a shoppers paradise and more.

A friend and I hopped on a bus from the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center to check out the Main Street in Grapevine, Texas, and I’m glad we did. Download the map before you venture off into town and verify with the bus driver that you are on the right bus. We did not, lesson learned- ask the driver if they travel to where you need to go.

An individual day pass for shuttle service in Grapevine, Texas, is $5.00 and a family day pass is $10.00. Keep in mind, drivers do not have change, as you must have the exact change upon boarding the bus. Pay attention to the last stop of the day, as once the shuttle bus leaves, it leaves.

I loved Grapevine, Texas, and I know you will too. The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is just a sliver of paradise that this fun city in Texas has to offer. Did I mention that they also have wine in Grapevine, Texas?
