Family Fun Weekend In Omaha: Omaha Zoo and Omaha Children’s Museum
Omaha is a great town to enjoy a weekend with your family. The Henry Doorly Omaha Zoo is home to many beautiful animals and family friendly activities. I recently visited the Omaha Zoo and I loved the fact that I could get right up close to a camel, beautiful butterfly and even a baby monkey. How cool is that?
The Omaha Zoo has a terrain that is hilly and can be rough on a hot day. And as you know, if you visit Omaha in the summer, it can be a cooker. The Omaha Zoo is open all year long and with so many exhibits throughout, you will find something to do, no matter what time of year you visit. The train is a nice way to get you from one area of the zoo to another.
Make note: The train ride is not included in your zoo admission price.
There is a lot of construction going on right now at the Omaha Zoo. The African Grasslands are slated to be completed in 2017. This $73 million/ 28 acre project will be amazing, once completed. Even with this construction going on, there is still a LOT to see at the Omaha Zoo.
The Butterfly Butterfly Pavillion is truly one of a kind. From butterflies to moths, and spiders there is something her to interest you. The waterfalls add beauty and a little sound to what would otherwise be a fairly quiet pavillion.
The Hubbard Orangutan Forest is where you will find orangutan and more. There are orangutans inside and outdoors. This baby posed for me- can you believe it?
One tip when visiting any zoo is to pay attention to the gates and doors that are all around. They are placed in areas for your safety. This beautiful African lion shows why visitors need to stay the distance.
A children’s petting zoo and carousel rides are also available for families to use. Several animal encounters are also available throughout the day. Be sure to check your events calendar upon entering the zoo to confirm the time of the animal encounter you wish to experience.
The best part of visiting Omaha is that I was with three of my blogging friends! Meet Mary of Farm Girl Cookn’ and Joy of Living Life Joyfully.
I have never visited the Omaha Children’s Museum, but I can tell you that I have heard awesome things about it. I have one Family Admission Pass to give away. The pass admits up to four people for one visit. Enter through the Rafflecopter form today. Plan a visit to Omaha today- your family will thank you!
*Thank you to Visit Omaha for hosting us in Omaha along with our visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo.
