An Amazing Time In Jamestown, North Dakota
*This post is sponsored by Jamestown, North Dakota, and all opinions are mine and nobody else’s.*
Are you looking for an amazing time in Jamestown, North Dakota? This town has won me over due to its strong art scene, along with the historical experiences.

You’ll also want to leave plenty of room in the trunk of your car, as the shopping scene is incredible. The local shops include boutiques featuring women’s clothing, North Dakota products, and other fun finds including children’s books. Here are some of my favorite, amazing things to do in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Things To Do In Jamestown With Grandkids
Visit The National Bison Discovery Center
500 17th St SE
Jamestown, ND 58401

bisoncenter.org

The National Bison Discovery Center offers the history surrounding the American Bison. If you are lucky, the bison will be near the outdoor overlook on your visit. We visited on a May day and the bison were still hanging out in their “winter” area. Like any wildlife, they are on their own schedule and move when they feel like it.

Take time to watch the short movie that is shown throughout the day, as it gives you great insight into why the National Bison Discovery Center exists today. Stroll through the displays and make time to shop. The gift shop has all kinds of North Dakota things, along with items featuring bison. There is a small fee to visit this attraction.

The Jamestown Art Center

The Arts Center, along with beautiful street art, makes Jamestown a destination to experience art. The gallery changes throughout the year, giving you reason to return. A highlight of this center is the on-site culinary kitchen. They offer cooking classes, which all look amazing!

Thursdays during the summer months they bring the Downtown Arts Market to the Hansen Arts Market.

Downtown comes to life with food, drinks, and family-friendly activities. The art center is free to visit.
Street Art In Jamestown, North Dakota
The street art is amazing in Jamestown. A fun scene is an interactive mural that runs alongside Hugo’s Family Market. With 250 feet of fun, interactive murals, it’s worth taking a stroll and taking selfies.

A Jamestown mural is also fun to visit. When you stand in front of this mural, turn around, as there is another amazing mural across the road. The colors are vibrant, fun, and inviting in all of the street art in Jamestown.
Visit The Amazing Historic Stutsman County Courthouse
504 3rd Ave SE
Jamestown, ND
701-328-1883
history.nd.gov/historicsites/stutsmancc

You can dive into history at the Historic Stutsman County Courthouse. Take a self-guided tour and explore North Dakota’s and Stutsman County’s history. On the day Todd and I visited, we had the pleasure of meeting ——, who gave us a tour of the attraction.

A fun thing inside the courthouse is that it’s hands-on. Most things in the courthouse are touchable, which is not always the case when visiting historic sites.

Signage is clear throughout about what you cannot touch. It’s free to visit and donations are accepted.
Visit The Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge
7780 10th St SE
Pingree, ND 58476-9511
701-285-3341
fws.gov/refuge/arrowwood/visit-us/locations/arrowwood-national-wildlife-refuge

A short drive from Jamestown will take you to the Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge.

I would highly recommend driving the auto tour, as it offers amazing views. Birding and wildlife viewing are both popular in this area. Depending on the time of year, will determine what you see.

If you love photography and nature, you will fall in love with this refuge. Note: The signage along the road says park headquarters; it does not say visitor center. Take the turn and enjoy your visit to the Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
Make Time To Shop In Jamestown, North Dakota

There are several locally owned shops in the downtown area that offer great shopping experiences. I love a good bookstore, and I immediately fell in love with The Story Nook.
This whimsical shop offers children’s books, puzzles, stuffed animals, and toys.

They also hold family-friendly events throughout the year and offer rental space for birthday parties and the like. Storytime is popular on Saturday mornings, captivating the attention of kids of all ages.
Jamestown Is A Must Stop Off Of I-94
Jamestown, North Dakota, sits right along I-94, making it an easy stop as you travel along. The Fairfield Inn & Suites offers an indoor pool with a waterslide, fantastic indoor gym, and a delicious hot breakfast, making it a great stop for families.

No matter how you spend your time in Jamestown, make it your experience and have an amazing time. Slow down and take it all in.
