I love a good zoo! Zoos are family friendly, affordable, and fun for everyone. The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, North Dakota, offers a variety of animals, including penguins, badgers, alligators, bison, bobcats, bears, pigs, and many more. I loved the miniature horses.
I don’t recall seeing miniature horses at any of the zoos I have recently visited. On my visit they were visible, but had no interest in posing for a photo. Tip: If you have kids that love trains, purchase train tickets with your admission ticket.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and enjoy your time at the zoo. Wheelchairs are available, first come, first serve. You can rent strollers at the Concession stand. Plan to spend a good portion of your day at the zoo, you will be glad you did.

One of North Dakota’s newest museums is ready to welcome you. The North Dakota Gateway to Science Museum is a children’s museum on steroids. As an adult, I found myself immersed in all of the incredible hands on activities in this museum. All visitors will learn about the body, farming, motion, the sun and moon, including weather.
Each area of the museum will lure you in and quickly become your new favorite area in the museum. They are closed on Tuesdays, allowing the staff time to keep everything in working order. Note: Electric vehicle charging stations are located in the parking lot. The parking lot is also RV friendly.
