Hotel + Museum= Stunning 21C Museum Hotel Experience In Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City is a town that I have fallen in love with this year. I had the pleasure of spending time here in February and then again in July of 2018. I was greeted with a smile and tips on how to make the most out of my stay at the 21C Museum Hotel in Oklahoma City. I was provided lodging through the Oklahoma Convention & Visitors Bureau and through this partnership, I have found myself planning another visit in 2019. I quickly learned through two visits that Oklahoma City is a happening town with a lot to experience.

The 21C Hotel is truly a one of a kind experience in this once bustling industrial area of Oklahoma City. The industry has since left, but the renovations that have taken place here are over the top. A step outside my room, found this artistic piece.

This particular hotel is located in a building that was built in 1916 and is listed on the National Register of Historial Places, which in itself, is a big deal. There are many buildings all across America vying for this classification, which speaks volumes for the importance of this historical building. I love how Oklahoma City has turned “older” buildings into useful purposes for the 21st Century.

This hotel was once a bustling Ford Model T assembly plant. Once you start looking around, it’s apparent that a lot of pride has been invested in this property, along with dedicated individuals. The River of Time, a moving art experience, near Mary Eddy’s entrance is worth a stop, in itself.

Mary Eddy’s, a restaurant on site, offers a unique ever-changing menu to give you the local experience. When is the last time you were served up cotton candy?

Did I mention that anyone can swing into the building to experience the art here? It’s free and a fun way to experience history and art all in one stop in Oklahoma City. It’s important to note that visitors cannot roam the areas where the rooms are located, as these areas are secure. The artwork was completely different from my visit in February compared to my visit a few months later. It’s definitely worth checking out occasionally, if you frequent the Oklahoma City area.

You are now probably curious as to what the rooms look like in this historical site. It’s not uncommon to find a purple penguin around the next corner, as these penguins remind you that you are staying in a fun 21C Hotel.

I loved how the tall ceilings made way for large windows and rooms with the longest curtains I have ever used in my entire life.

Each room is spacious, in its own way. A room with a bed and bath offers space for the solo traveler, as well as a couple looking for a quick night get-a-way. The suites offer more spacious rooms, with the tall ceilings and unique art, right outside the doorway.

This particular 21C Hotel has done a fabulous job of retaining the feel of the automobile plant, as the public restrooms are home to some of the most unique water pipes and artwork that I have ever seen.

Have you stayed at a 21C Museum Hotel? If so, I’d love to hear about your experience.

*Thank you to the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau for hosting me.
