A River Kayaking Adventure Along Mississippi’s Secret Coast
I recently had the opportunity to explore Mississippi’s Secret Coast and I jumped at the opportunity. Kayaking the Wolf River along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, known as the Secret Coast was a highlight of my visit. I’ve grown to love to kayak and explore new waterways. Kayaking in Mississippi is beautiful and a great opportunity to explore waterways. The Mississippi River is also one of the most popular destinations for kayak fishing, claims Fisherman’s Pond.
This was the first time my husband and I had kayaked on a river, and this was a whole new experience for us. River kayaking and lake kayaking are two different things. We adapted rather quickly and had a great time.
Full Disclosure: We were hosted on our kayak adventure, and as always, the opinions expressed here, are mine and nobody else’s. Thank you to Fisherman’s Pond for sponsoring this post.
WHITE, SAND BEACHES ALONG THE WOLF RIVER
We loved the fact that there were white, sand beaches along this waterway and we could hop out of our kayaks easily to enjoy the view. I knew that the neighboring state of Alabama had beautiful white, sandy beaches.
What I did not know was the fact that the Wolf River has some beautiful beaches along its banks. One hour into our adventure, we were wishing we had packed a picnic lunch. With so many places to rest along the way with beautiful views, I’d highly recommend that you take the time to pack your lunch.
PADDLE AT YOUR OWN PACE While Kayaking In Mississippi
The one thing that I loved about Wolf River Canoe & Kayak, was the fact that they drive kayakers to a drop off point. Our driver introduced us to the area and offered us tips on kayaking the “high river.”
We were dropped off in a secluded area and began to paddle our way along the Wolf River. It was exceptionally nice to be able to paddle at our own pace. We were not with a group of people with a mix of skills, which added to making our experience more personal.
ITEMS TO PACK FOR YOUR KAYAKING ADVENTURE ALONG THE SECRET COAST
- SUNSCREEN
- BUG SPRAY
- WATER SHOES
- LUNCH
- CELL PHONE WATER CASE
- WATER
Depending on how long you want to kayak and your skill level, may determine what kayaking trip you book. Overnight kayaking trips, as well as short one hour trips, are available. Each wind and turn of the river brought new views, as did each stroke of the paddle. The water was high during our visit, which made for some adventure on the rapids. I’m ready to hop on the Wolf River, along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, anytime. All I need is a little time and an opportunity to head south.
