Eat Hawaiian Food In Geary County

Hawaiian food was one of the last things I was expecting to find in Geary County. Onolicious Hawaaian BBQ is in Junction City at 1634 North Washington Street. The food was mouth-watering, and I am craving a plate of the sweetness as I write this. Kuuleialoha Provencal, owner of the restaurant, is a native Hawaaian. She and her family serve up all of the deliciousness and let me tell you; you will LOVE your plate of food. I ordered the chicken katsu, panko crusted fried chicken, served with a sweet and tangy katsu sauce. Rice and a tasty pasta salad are served on the side.

Kuuleialoha’s family, including her husband Henry, help her run the restaurant. Her passion shows through the hospitality and delightful food that they serve. Free street parking is near the restaurant, along with a few spaces in front of it. Eating Hawaaian food is one of the Unique things to know about in Geary County.

Unusual Things To Do In Lindsborg

Explore The US Cavalry Museum

The US Cavalry Museum on the Fort Riley Military Base is something unique to do. I do not come from a military family, and I’m always curious as to what it is like to live on a military base. All visitors must fill out a form to visit and enter through the visitor center once you arrive on base. The process is easy and most importantly, you must submit your request to visit a few days before.

Several museums on base are free to visit, and they offer amazing insight into history and what life is like for our soldiers in the United States. I had the pleasure of visiting with several employees who were passionate about their service to our country. The US Cavalry Museum recently underwent a major renovation and it shows throughout the museum. Depending on your time, you can easily spend a full day exploring the history on Fort Riley.

Sleep In A Yurt

Milford Lake is the largest lake in Kansas. Acorns Resort & RV Park is home to unique lodging, yurts. Have you stayed in a yurt? They offer a unique experience, as they offer loding in a luxury tent set on a wood platform.

A queen bed with linen is provided and two army style cots are available. Bring your bedding for the cots in the yurt. Anytime I stay in cabins or unique lodging in parks, I always pack bedding and a pillow. If what is provided is sufficient for me, I don’t use what I have packed. I always try to be prepared, and not find myself disappointed in not bringing the things I needed.

Air conditioning and heat is available and there is no running water in the yurt. A portable toilet is nearby. If you are traveling with a pet, these yurts are pet friendly. The yurt experience lets you soak in nature and get a taste of “glamping.” Bonus: Bring your binoculars, as the bald eagles often fly by.
